Missed not lost
13.11.2026–10.01.2027
curated by Deniz Kırkalı
opening on November 13, 6–9 pm
Ayşe İdil İdil's solo exhibition Missed not lost, curated by Deniz Kırkalı, addresses the conditions that shape fellowshipping across distance, staged against a rising tide of fascism and multiple global crises.
The exhibition takes place during 10 documents' thematic term logics of movement. It comprises an installation and visitations carried out by invited practitioners at various moments throughout the exhibition.
At the centre is a reworking of the artist's curtain-interface structure, functioning as backdrop, container, and divider, holding photographs, writings, and found material. They draw on the textured, still-active infrastructure of aqueducts as ancient mediators of flow and movement that carried water from source to community across distances, as a living circulatory system linking İstanbul, Rome, and beyond.
Sound and video accompany the work in disseminating waves and vibrations as forms of touch that bind us all. The new body of work is a vessel-structure, a repertoire which actively pursues the possibility of transformation or becoming something else each time visited, touched, and called upon.
The exhibition is supported by SAHA.
